A B O U T

Drawing on a background in photo media and literature, Georgie Kite’s practice is grounded in observation and reflection. Her paintings develop gradually, layering colour, form and texture to create surfaces where motifs such as vessels, headlands and native flora emerge and recede. These works are less representations of place than meditations on how place is perceived - how time, weather, light and mood shift the way we see and understand the world.

Georgie completed a Bachelor of Arts (English Literature) at the University of Wollongong, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Photo media) with Distinction at the University of NSW School of Art and Design, and a Diploma in Education (Visual Arts) at the University of New England.

Georgie and her husband James run a small art and framing business, Frame & Brush in Bermagui on the New South Wales Far South Coast where they live with their three children and their cattle dog Ziggy.
